Orders are created before payment is authorised
When an order is placed in the webshop, it appears in the order overview. Even if the customer does not complete payment for the order.
There are several reasons for this.
For example, the system needs to know an order number when the payment is made. Otherwise, the payment gateway would not accept an online payment.
It would also not be possible to send a message to customers who have yet to pay after 2 hours. This is something that ideal.shop's webshop does by default, and sometimes it can "save" an order.
And finally, it's used to keep track of the stock status of items if you use stock. When an order is placed, the item is "reserved" on the order while the customer is in the process of paying. This prevents multiple customers from paying for the same item.
Change email notifications
You decide whether you and the customer should receive order confirmations before or after payment is completed.
The settings can be found under "Settings » Email » Messages" and by clicking on "Orders" and then on the cogwheel in the top right corner of the screen.
