Selling virtual products (files)

It is possible to sell virtual products in your webshop such as recipes, e-books, videos, and the like.

You just need to enable the "File sales" option which you can find through the search.

Then the option will be available where you edit your product. Add a file to activate file sales.



Once you have added a file to a product, and if the product is purchased with online payment, it will automatically be sent to the customer as soon as the order is completed.

For the file to be sold, the following conditions must also be met:

- There may ONLY be file products in the order
- "Pickup" must not be used as a delivery method
- Payment must be made with online payment methods such as card payment or MobilePay

Note that there may be a small risk of abuse with auto-debiting of amounts

There have been rare cases of attempts to attack webshops that sell virtual goods, by completing hundreds of orders with stolen credit cards. In this way, attackers can ensure that the webshop has to shut down temporarily and/or incurs large costs due to chargebacks of orders.

If you want to protect yourself against this, make sure that your payment gateway enables 3D Secure (e.g., validation with MitID) for all purchases, and not just order amounts over $USD 30 (or equivalent in your local currency).
