Shipping fees and discount codes

It can quickly become complicated to figure out how/when a discount code affects a shipping fee and vice versa.

It is possible to make a discount code dependent on a shipping fee. This means that a discount code can only be used when an order amount (incl. shipping fee) exceeds a certain amount.

Conversely, it is also possible to make the shipping fee dependent on the order amount AFTER a discount code has been added.

Here are the rules you need to know:

By default, a shipping method (and its fee ranges) will look at an order amount AFTER any discount has been deducted.

For example:

Amount of goods: 1000 DKK
Discount code: 200 DKK discount
Total item purchase: 800 DKK

If you offer free shipping on purchases of 900 DKK, the free shipping will NOT apply here.

A discount code can be set to be calculated after fees. The setting is found where you edit the discount code (under "Advanced").

The setting is relevant if you use "Minimum purchase" as a requirement for using the discount code. If you select "After fees", any shipping fees and payment fees will be included in the calculation of when the discount code can be used.

Furthermore, "After fees" will mean that the discount from this discount code will NOT be included in the calculation of shipping and payment fees. For example, if you offer free shipping on a certain order amount.
