Options / add-ons
To create "options" on an item, you must first create both items. For example, "Trainers" and "Laces".
Then you can activate the "Add-ons" tool and create add-ons for your items.
(if you don't want the optional item to be visible or available for purchase on its own in your online shop, you can use the "item visibility" option)
